BuzzerBlog: Early Look at "Camouflage"

  • The Great Butler · 2 years ago
This show looks really good, like a modern-day Now You See It. I haven't even seen a second of the actual show and I can tell this destroys Chain Reaction :|

A few things. First does the show have an announcer? And another thing is this show actually premieres at 7pm on July 2nd replacing Lingo, while Lingo moves to the 8pm(Wed-Fri.) slot. Sounds good though.
  • Alex Davis · 2 years ago
Yes, there is an announcer. I'm guessing the new episodes air at 7:30PM on the following days. I'm just going by what GSN sent me, though I am sure you are correct.

is this show staged before a studio audience (unlike "Lingo"?)

From the article you must have not read: "It’s the most canned audience I’ve ever heard in my life; they would have been better not to even bother with the applause track."

I am glad to hear they are using an announcer. Do you happen to know who it is?
  • Joe Mello · 2 years ago
I don't know about you, but the set looks a little derivative of Jeopardy! Not sure if that's good or bad, but it is what it is.
  • Woodie B. · 2 years ago
The set is almost reminiscent of the PAX-TV game, On The Cover--only the contestants are facing the opposite direction. Coincidentally, Jonathan Barry produced OTC and now, Camouflage.
  • Alex Davis · 2 years ago
Woodie: That's EXACTLY what I thought about the set. I'm glad someone else picked up on a weird OTC-likeness with it. The camera angled reminded me of it as well.
  • Brandon · 2 years ago
I like the set, very snazzy, and it does look a little the "On the Cover" set in reverse. I'm wondering if they had the same art director, as I really liked the OTC set as well.
  • Xavier · 2 years ago
I agree with Joe. The set looks a little like the Jeopardy set they use when they go to New York.

Love the sneak preview. I'm gonna make sure to watch the first episode. It's also great to hear a positive review of Roger Lodge direct from someone watching that. I hope GSN pairs this up with Chain Reaction - they'd make a great 1-2 punch.

It's going into the 7-8 PM hour, replacing 'Lingo' which will now air in the 8-9 PM hour on some nights. 'Camouflage' will also air at 8:30 PM on Sundays, with 'Lingo' as a lead-in.

I don't remember what the 'On the Cover' set looks like, but the first thing I thought of when I saw those pictures was 'Jeopardy!'. Actually, I think it looks better than the J! set based on those pics. The game sounds great too, and I had a feeling Roger Lodge would make a good host.

I'm wondering if the announcer is Mitch Lewis, since he also announced OtC.

I should note that the schedule info above is according to Zap2it.

The Set sort of reminds me of a mix of the old sushi bar Jeopardy set and the current set.

I like the idea for an Applause track.

    Really, I do.

Any website whare I can find it?

The KF set looks good, though.

i agree, Alex, that Camouflage sounds like a winner but i strongly disagree with all the flack you've given Chain Reaction. Dylan may look at the teleprompter a little often but i doubt Roger Lodge can say he has a degree in philophisy

I agree with Jakes, Chain Reaction is not all that bad. I, in fact, like it. Go Jakes! You rule!

Looking good all the way around for Camouflage, and yes, even though Alex is none too fond of CR, not everyone feels that way. CR actually does have some good points IMO, but it also could be a lot better, can't disagree with that.

With how Alex dislikes CR, I kind of wonder what he would actually say to Dylan Lane (to his face) if he ever met him.

thank you Manny & Intelligentfan777 for your support. just thought id say to Alex..... no hard feelings. love your website

Excellent show overall...the scoring mechanism is thoughtful and rewards early answers. The bonus round is Lingo-esque (the better you do in part one, the easier it is to win in the second part). The bonus is somewhat derivative of the Wheel of Fortune bonus round, very simple and turns on a short time window.

Some of the contestants are cheesy, tough. Roger Lodge is fine. He looks and acts like a host. Overall, the show is better than Chain Reax (which could be improved).

What I've seen so far has been great. I would suggest the contestants earn dollars rather than points, the final round pays $10,000+, and instead of canned applause, to get a real studio audience (even if it's just employees from KCET where the show is taped).

i whole heartedly agree with Charles. the show can be improved and Charles hit the nail on the head.
