BuzzerBlog: Sky One in England Picks Up "Fifth Grader"

'It’s the perfect, twisted quiz show for Sky One.'

I will give them this much. They don't have enough of a prize budget to ruin it. The last game show they did was for £10k. All their money goes on buying a ton of US drama - Lost, 24, Dresden Files, Battlestar Galactica, Cold Case - and their original programming is 90% reality tripe.

This will be good for one thing, though. First UK game show in HD. I just wish it were something watchable.

The US version on FOX will have a contestant get a chance to look at the $1 million question on April 19.

What’s not to love about 10-year-olds gaining the intellectual high ground over nervous adults, fearing humiliation in front of a live studio audience?

Mmm, do we have to answer that?

And as Sky start looking for child actors...

...as we don't use the grade system per se (students start in Year 1 at age 5 and progress through each year - without any concept of holding students back or pushing them forward, as in the US - until compulsory education ends in Year 11), the show is apparently going to be called Are You Smarter Than A 10 Year Old?

The US show is still going?

"The US show is still going?"

    Unfortunately

I wonder if this will be rigged like the US version.

About that date... I saw that episode where the male player who has my first name made it all the way through the 10 Questions but decided to keep the half mil. He should've used his insticts when he saw the final question (category: US History) and win the million! BUGGER!!!!
